Pol. Lt. Thanphisit Muangchan, Investigation Officer at Thalang Police Station, was notified of an incident where a motorcycle had lost control on the busy road and collided with a truck incident resulting in the casualty just after 8am this morning.
The incident occurred on the southbound section of Thepkrasattri Road, near Village 5, Ban Muang Mai.
Pol Lt Thanphisit duly advised his colleague Pol. Col. Nikorn Chuthong, Superintendent of Thalang Police Station, of the incident, who advanced to the scene where he was joined by officers from the Muang Mai branch of the Phuket Kusoldham Foundation.
On arriving they discovered a Scania model truck with a Phichit license plate parked. The truck’s driver, Tanuphat Changchom, was standing by his vehicle.
A motorbike lay damaged in the middle of the road nearby, its Krabi-registered license plate having fallen off. Near to the motorbike was the driver, Kittisak Chatcheu, who was declared dead at the scene by medical professionals and whose body was shortly afterwards taken to Thalang Hospital.
Police officers inspected the scene, took photographs and questioned several eye witnesses. Although there has been no official verdict at time of press, it appeared that Mr Chatcheu lost control of his bike before falling under Mr Tanuphat’s truck.
Police confirmed that Mr Tanuphat had been taken to Thalang police station to face further questioning to enable police to proceed with the case.
