Tha Chatchai Police were alerted to the accident at 5:05pm, said Lt Jitthiwa Thanawithila, Deputy Inspector (Investigation).

Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, Muang Mai Branch, rushed to the scene and found the rider lying unconscious on the road near the central median.

Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as local Mai Khao resident ‘Mr Samreong’ (surname withheld pending family notification).

His black GPX Legend 250 motorcycle, registered in Phuket, was found lying in the middle of the road, causing traffic delays as officers worked to clear the area.

The body was taken to Thalang Hospital for a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death. Police are contacting the man’s family so that religious rites can be performed.
