The crackdown was carried out overnight from Friday into Saturday (June 12-13) after residents complained about groups of teenagers gathering to race motorcycles and creating a public nuisance with excessively loud exhaust systems.
Police officers were joined by Moo 6 village headman Kittithach Khuangla and conducted patrols throughout Wichit, using flashing lights to deter gatherings and monitor areas where street racing has been reported.
The operation focused on roads near the Laem Dinso viewpoint, a location that has repeatedly attracted groups of young riders.
Police seized six motorcycles found to have been modified with illegal loud exhaust pipes. The vehicles were taken to Wichit Police Station, where investigators recorded the seizures and began legal proceedings against those responsible.
Wichit Police Superintendent Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang said Wichit Police have been working closely with community leaders and volunteers to monitor and suppress illegal street racing in the area.
He noted that police have received numerous complaints from residents living along Sakdidech Rd and in the Laem Dinso area about the noise and danger caused by modified motorcycles and illegal racing on public roads.
As a result, police have continued to set up checkpoints along Sakdidech Rd to intercept offenders.
Pol Col Somsak said Wichit Police have previously arrested many teenagers involved in street racing and seized hundreds of motorcycles during ongoing enforcement efforts.
He stressed that police will continue to strictly enforce the law against illegal racing and motorcycles modified in violation of traffic regulations.
