Police were called to the scene, in front of the Thalang branch of the Government Savings Bank in Tambon Thepkrasattri, at about 7:50pm.

The man, identified as Thanakorn Kunkangkul, was riding a red-and-black Honda Scoopy-i motorbike when he collided with the rear of a Ford Ranger pickup, driven by Waraporn Wongsaenchai, police reported.

Witnesses confirmed the impact caused Mr Thanakorn to lose control of his motorbike, sending him under a nearby trailer truck.

The truck, a white-and-blue Hino driven by Seksan Sarawari, ran over Mr Thanakorn, killing him instantly.

The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the southbound lanes of Thepkrasattri Rd, police noted.

Rescue workers from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation transported Mr Thanakorn’s body to Thalang Hospital, while police attended to the scene, clearing the way for the traffic.
