The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said heavy rains are expected in Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawaddy regions, as well as in Kachin, Shan, Chin and Rakine states over next few days, the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reports.

Three bridges in Sagaing region were destroyed Saturday morning due to heavy rain overnight, according to a report by Irrawaddy news magazine.

At least 88 people have been killed in heavy rain and flooding across Myanmar since July.

The weather has been blamed for the deaths of more than 4,650 head of cattle and damaged more than 210,000 hectares of farmland across 12 states, according to the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Ministry.
