At around 2pm yesterday (Feb 16), Lt Col Kittipong Noupeng of Cherng Talay Police was informed by a local fisherman about a body found on the rocks at Laem Kho Ma, in the vicinity of Bang Tao Beach.

Surin Beach lifeguards and Phuket Kusontham Foundation rescue workers were dispatched to the scene to recover the body. The man was found lying face down on the rocks, with signs indicating he had died several days ago.

The deceased was identified as Wanchai Puanglamyai, 39, a crew member of the fishing boat Thanapsomwang 9, who had fallen overboard and went missing during rough weather in the Bang Tao Bay area. His disappearance was reported by relatives on Feb 12.

Authorities then contacted Mr. Wanchai’s family to confirm the identity before the body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
