Police arrived at the scene, near the entrance of Yamu Hills estate on the Heroines-Pa Khlok Rd (Route 4027), to see both damaged vehicles still in the middle of the road and both drivers standing by.
Police were told that the tour bus just came out of an auto repairs shop nearby and was being taken for a test drive when the minivan slammed into the bus while it was making a u-turn to return to the shop.
The minivan driver, Manoch Tossapon, 44, suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
He and bus driver Apinan Noypim, 42, were both taken to Thalang Police Station for questioning.
Both men confirmed they had no passengers in their vehicles at the time of the accident, said Lt Sanit Nookong of the Thalang Police.
“After questioning both drivers and witnesses, we learned that both vehicles were heading south,” Pol Lt Sanit said.
“Manoch, who was driving the minivan, arrived at high speed and was unable to avoid colliding with the bus as it was making its u-turn,” he said.
“We are now waiting for both parties to contact their insurance companies and it is likely that Manoch will be charged with reckless driving,” Pol Lt Sanit added.
Both damaged vehicles were impounded pending further investigation.
