The accident occurred on Thepkrasattri Rd, just 50 metres from the Bang Chak petrol station at Baan Lipon, in Moo 5, Srisoonthorn, at about 6:50am.
Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find a heavily damaged grey MG sedan with a large impact on the driver’s door from where the car struck the power pole.
The driver, identified as Jinnawat Thaworn, 28, from Takua Thung District in Phang Nga, was found unconscious and unresponsive with a broken neck and head injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
The rider of the Honda Wave motorbike struck by the car, Wichote Rueangsombat, 50, had suffered injuries to his legs, arms and head. Rescue workers provided immediate assistance, and he was subsequently transported to Thalang Hospital for further medical care.
About 60 metres from the initial impact point was a bronze-coloured Isuzu pickup truck with heavy damage to its rear and right side. The driver, Darunee Kosai, 46, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Thalang Hospital for medical attention.
Eyewitnesses recounted that before the collision, the MG sedan was travelling at high speed, lost control and collided with the parked pickup truck.
The car then veered into an electric pole before spiralling into a moving motorcycle, causing injuries to Mr Wichote.
Police removed the vehicles from the scene to restore traffic flow to the busy road and are checking CCTV footage from the area in the hope of determining the cause of the accident.
