According to Patong Police, officers on patrol on Bangla Rd found the suspects standing with a group of foreign tourists and “acting suspiciously” at about 3am.
A search of the suspects, and subsequent searches of their residences, resulted in Suspect 1 being charged with illegally using a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine), police confirmed
Suspect 2, found with five ya bah pills, was charged with illegal possession of a Category 1 narcotic and illegally using a Category 1 narcotic.
Suspect 3 was found with evidence of 50 ya bah pills, 4.79 grammes of crystal meth, 50 clear plastic bags and a digital scale.The suspect also tested positive for drug use, police said.
The three suspects were not named in the police report posted online.
In making the arrests, officers later raided M&P CAFE Coffee & Motorbike rental shop on Soi Nanai 2 at about 4.30am.
Seized as evidence were eight motorbikes, as follows::
- Honda ADV 160 motorbike, valued at about B60,000
- Honda Click 160, valued at about B30,000
- Honda PCX, valued at about B30,000
- Honda Click 125i, valued at about B30,000
- Honda LEAD valued at about B30,000
- Yamaha AEROX 155, valued at about B30,000
- Yamaha AEROX, valued at about B20,000
- Honda Scoopy, valued at about B10,000
All three suspects, and the motorbikes seized were taken to Patong Police Station for further legal action, Patong Police reported.
Meanwhile, Thalang Police have announced the arrests of two suspects and seizure of 6,200 ya bah pills and 52.7g of crystal meth (ya ice) in a raid yesterday (Sept 9).
Officers had learned of a drug delivery to three people at an address in Soi Hin Lat, Baan Para, Moo 4, Pa Khlok, at 7:30pm.
Officers surrounded the area and lay in wait, and on seeing a “suspicious” Chevrolet sedan arrive, the officers moved in and made their arrests.
Taken into custody were Kodech Changnam, 24, and Direk Nitprathum, 40. A third suspect, named by police as Kanuchen ‘Imron’ Phanthip, fled and evaded capture.
Kodech and Direk were taken to Thalang Police Station for questioning.
Both men were charged with collaborating and joint possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell.
Both suspects denied the charges, claiming that the drugs did not belong to them, but belonged to ‘Mr Bang’, who had escaped earlier.
They said that they were only going to get the car that they had left with ‘Mr Bang’.
