Mass raid as police close in on Phuket ex-mayor

Led by Region 8 Commissioner Lt Gen Panya Mamen and officers from Bangkok, the first place the police visited was a home of former mayor Pian Keesin, where they were met by his first wife and their daughter.

They showed her the search warrant for the five-bedroom house.

His wife – who is also the mother of Prap “Mr Big” Keesin, told them, “I don’t know where he is. He has many wives. He comes to visit us but he doesn’t stay here.”

AMLO officers asked her where Pian keeps his documents and she led them to the second floor where she showed them a storage room full of documents – and a shotgun.

As the search continues in the house, other teams of officers are searching for Pian.

More to come as the story unfolds.
