Man talked down from pedestrian bridge jump

PHUKET: Thalang Police managed to prevent a man from jumping off a pedestrian bride onto the busy Thepkrasattri Rd last night (July 29).

Officers and rescue workers arrived at the scene, near Wat Srisoonthorn, at 10:20pm to find a man wearing black long-sleeved shirt and black jeans in state of emotional distress threatening to jump.

However, officers managed to dissaude the man from taking the leap during an intense discussion lasting about 10 minutes, during which other officers managed to get close enough to restrain the man,

The man, a 25-year-old from Surat Thani, was taken to Thalang Hospital.

Officers declined to confirm the reason for the man’s distress, but noted it was likely to have been during to relationship problems with his girlfriend.
