Thalang Police were notified of the fatal crash at about 5:30am after the accident occurred at approximately 2:50am on Thepkrasattri Rd in Srisoonthorn.
According to the police report, the victim, identified as 28-year-old Thanyaboon Changthong of Tambon Thepkrasattri, was driving a Phuket-registered car southbound along Thepkrasattri Rd when it struck the rear of a parked truck.
Police said the truck, registered in Saraburi province, had been parked on the left side of the road while its driver, Charawut Rupkhao, was asleep inside the vehicle.
Rescue workers transported Mr Thanyaboon to Thalang Hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 4:39am.
Investigating officers inspected the scene, documented evidence and compiled an initial report as part of the investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Thalang Police said.
