Man injured as car hits Phuket Town roundabout

PHUKET: Rescue workers were forced to pry open a car to free the injured driver early yesterday morning (Feb 12) after a young man driving a sedan lost control and crashed into the Nimit Traffic Circle (‘Seahorse Circle’) in Phuket Town.

Rescue workers from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation arrived at the scene at about 3am to find the car, a Phuket-registered Honda City sedan, had crashed into a power pole at the roundabout.

The car was damaged on the driver’s side and the driver was seriously injured trapped inside.

Rescue workers took about 15 minutes to free the injured man, who was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

The latest medical condition of the driver and the injuries sustained have yet to be confirmed, and police have yet to clarify whether the man has been tested for alcohol.

No other people were injured in the accident.
