Police and rescue workers were called to the scene, a condo building along Phra Phuket Kaew Rd, at about 11pm.
Officers arrived at the room, on the 5th floor, to find the injured man*, his wife and a work colleague still in the room.
The injured man received immediate first aid and was rushed to hospital.
According to police, the couple had been arguing about an affair earlier in the evening. The man, distressed during the argument, retrieved a handgun and, after a heated exchange, threatened to end his life.
The wife attempted to intervene, trying to wrestle the gun away from her husband, but was unsuccessful. The man ultimately pointed the gun at his head and fired.
The wife immediately called for help, with the man’s work colleague contacting an ambulance and alerting the condominium’s security staff.
The injured man was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that he was not in critical condition and remained conscious.
Police at the scene recovered a 9 mm Sig Sauer P320 handgun along with 14 rounds of ammunition and one spent 9mm bullet casing.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses as the injured man remains under medical care at the hospital.
