Officers were called to the hotel at about 6:11pm, and arrived to find the body of Sajeecha Nontakan, 40, registered as living in Patong, on the floor.

There were traces of a bullet entering his right temple and exiting through his left temple. On the floor beside him was a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun. A bullet casing was found about one metre away.

Police were met at the scene by a 22-year-old woman who explained she was involved in an extramarital affair with Mr Sajeecha.

Mr Nontakan’s wife, who runs a cannabis shop on Phra Metta Rd, had recently discovered the affair, leading to significant stress for Mr Nontakan, the woman said.

Overcome with guilt and despair, Mr Nontakan allegedly used a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol to shoot himself in the temple, the woman explained.

The woman was in the room when he fired the gun, she said.

Mr Sajeecha’s body was taken for post-mortem examination while forensic officers inspected the room.

Police are continuing their investigation.
