Officers from Wichit Police Station received a report of the incident at about 7:30am today (Feb 17). The death occurred at a house in Soi Thanthong 2/1, Moo 1, Wichit.
Police identified the deceased as 30-year-old Pongsakorn Jaisomkom.
According to the report, a friend of the deceased went to the house and discovered him hanging by a rope inside a storage room. The friend alerted authorities.
The deceased’s father told police that his son had been suffering from depression and had previously attempted to take his own life several times. Officers who searched the room found antidepressant medication and sleeping pills.
A friend also reported that at about 11:50am yesterday, the deceased sent a message via Facebook saying “Goodbye” along with a photograph of a rope prepared for hanging. After that message, communication was lost.
Relatives told police they did not suspect any foul play. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the scene in conjunction with Dr Tulyavich Wannasri before the body was released to the family for religious rites, Wichit Police reported.
Police confirmed there were no signs of struggle or property damage at the residence and the case is being treated as a suicide.
