Chalong Police were notified of the discovery by a concerned citizen at 7:07am.
Pol Lt Col Khanaen Samrak of the Chalong Police soon arrived, joined by rescue workers from Rawai Municipality and the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation, and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital.
The body was identified as that of Jakkaphat Sooksil, 22, from Det Udom District in Ubon Ratchathani. His identity was confirmed through his Thai ID card found in a bag nearby.
According to police, Mr Jakkaphat had been residing at a housing estate in Chalong, where he lived with relatives. He was employed as the caretaker of a Thai massage shop in Rawai.
The circumstances surrounding Mr Jakkaphat‘s death are currently under investigation. Police have yet to confirm whether foul play is suspected, but are urging anyone with information to come forward.
