Police received a report at around 9:30pm and arrived at the hotel with a medical examiner from Vachira Phuket Hospital. The deceased was identified as Somsak Thongthong, a security guard who lived in the Bang Khen area in Bangkok.

His body was found lying on the bed, shirtless and wearing navy blue shorts. Initial examinations revealed no visible wounds, signs of a struggle or forced entry, police reported.

The first person to discover the body was a security guard at the resort who said he last saw Mr Somsak around 6:30pm on the lower floor of the resort before being asked to buy food for him.

When he returned at 7pm, he knocked on the door but received no response and assumed Mr Somsak was not in the room.

Later, at about 8pm, the security guard returned with the food and, after knocking for an extended period without a response, became concerned.

He climbed up to the balcony at the back of the room and peered through the window, spotting Mr Somsak lying motionless on the bed.

After failing to wake him, he climbed inside and found that the man had already passed away. He then alerted the authorities.

Police and medical officials estimate that Mr Somsak had been dead for no more than four hours before medical examiners arrived.. As the initial examination could not determine the cause of death, his body was sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed post-mortem examination.

Kamala Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and are awaiting further medical examination results.
