The incident occurred at about 10pm on Wednesday night (July 8) after officers from Thalang Police Station had established a security checkpoint outside the station on Thepkrasattri Rd.
According to police, the driver, identified only as ‘Mr Jit’, failed to stop for inspection and sped away, prompting officers to pursue him.
Police said the suspect drove towards Ton Sai Waterfall before returning to Thepkrasattri Rd, where his vehicle struck a motorcycle, causing the rider to fall. He then continued along Thepkrasattri Rd, made a U-turn near Thai Watsadu, headed towards Thalang Hospital and eventually lost control of the vehicle on Ton Sai Waterfall Rd.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a homemade firearm and ammunition.
Mr Jit was arrested and has been charged with possession of a homemade firearm and ammunition without a permit, carrying a firearm in a public place without lawful permission or necessity, and reckless driving endangering the safety of others.
Police said legal proceedings are continuing.
