Man dies, thrown from pickup as it flips

PHUKET: A man died early this morning (Nov 30) after the pickup he was driving hit the central reservation on Thepkrasattri Rd and rolled several times, throwing the driver out of the vehicle.

Pol Lt Col Thanpisit Muangchan of the Thalang Police was informed of the accident, in front of the Thalang electricity substation on Thepkrasattri Rd, in Moo 5 Srisoonthorn, at 1:50am.

Police along with rescue workers from Srisoonthorn Municipality, an EMS. Advanced unit from Thalang Hospital and Kusoldharm rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the pickup, a white Phuket-registered Mitsubishi, on its side in the middle of the road.

The body of the driver, Suwit Kocharoenkit, 48, a resident of Pa Khlok, was found nearby on the road.

Beside the road was an injured man, Witthaya Pethueng, 48, of Moo 2 Pa Khlok, with injuries to his back and arm. EMS personnel administered first aid before rushing him to Thalang Hospital.

It was not reported whether Mr Witthaya was a passenger in the pickup when it rolled.

CCTV footage of the accident showed the pickup rolling several times before coming to rest in the middle of the lanes on the far side of the road.

Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.
