At around 12.45am, Chalong Police Station and Ruamjai Phuket Foundation were alerted to a road accident in front of Ban Chalong School on Chao Fa West Rd.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers and rescue workers discovered a Honda Click scooter that had smashed into a power pole on the side of the road and the body of Uthai Yadee, aged 57.

Despite the accident occurring at a busy and dangerous intersection, Chalong Police noted that there were no active CCTV cameras in the immediate area.

Local residents reported hearing the crash but did not witness the events leading up to the accident. Based on available evidence, Chalong Police officers suspect the rider misjudged the curve for some reason.

Weather conditions were not mentioned among possible factors and Mr Uthai’s bike didn’t show any marks that would suggest contact with another vehicle, according to police.

Photos from the scene depict a motorcycle helmet lying on Mr. Uthai’s bike, but it is unclear whether the 57-year-old man was wearing it while riding his Honda Click.
