Phuket City Police were notified of the incident at about 1am, prompting Acting Pol Lt Witthawat Krainara, a deputy investigator on duty, to attend the scene at the Internal Medicine Building 298, located within the hospital grounds in Talat Yai.
The man was later identified as Latthaphol Pattanagul, 29, originally from Trang Province.
According to initial witness statements, Mr Latthaphol was seen taking an elevator from the ground floor to the seventh floor of the building before walking to a balcony area. Witnesses reported that he was sitting with his legs hanging over the edge and behaving suspiciously, prompting staff to alert security personnel.
However, by the time security officers reached the location, Mr Latthaphol had already fallen from the building, sustaining critical injuries.
He was rushed for emergency treatment at the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed he was pronounced dead at about 2:10am.
No foul play is suspected at this stage, and no other persons are being sought in connection with the incident.
Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Chatree Chukaew was informed of the incident. Officers are continuing their investigation and will proceed with standard procedures, including gathering evidence and coordinating with relevant authorities.
