An automatic security alarm at the bank informed police of the attempted break-in, at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives branch in Baan Lipon, Moo 7, Srisoonthorn, at 11pm.
Officers from the Thalang Police arrived to find the passbook updating machine at the front of the bank forced open.
Officers also found signs of a break-in on the window lock on the side of the building, signs of cutting on the bathroom ventilation grille.
Clear images of the perpetrator were recorded on CCTV at the front of the bank, showing which way the perpetrator fled.
Thalang Police soon received a report from local residents of a man walking suspiciously around in front of a house.
Officers arrived at the residential address to find the man was the same man recorded on the bank’s CCTV.
The man, now identified as Apirak Kongpan, 19, was taken into custody and taken to Thalang Police Station for questioning.
The man will face charges, police confirmed.
