Man arrested in Rawai for ‘foreign villa’ burglary

PHUKET: A man wanted for breaking into and robbing a “foreign villa” in October has been arrested by the Chalong Police.

Santi Buakaew, 45, registered as living in Cherng Talay, was taken into custody in the Rawai Beach area, Chalong Police reported.

Santi was wanted on an arrest warrant No. 522/2566 issued by Phuket Provincial Court on Oct 2, last year, said the report. The report did not spcify the location of the “foreign villa” Mr Santi allegedly robbed or the total property value that was stolen.

In placing Santi under arrest, officers seized as evidence his Honda motorbike and full face helmet, his long-sleeved grey hoodie and shoulder bag, along with cash in a variety of currencies, including one €100 banknote, one €50 banknote, one US$20 banknote, one US$1 banknote, three 1 ringgit banknotes and one 5 ringgit banknote.

Santi was taken to Chalong Police Station and charged with forced entry to a property and committing theft at night while using a vehicle to commit the offence.
