Wichit Police were called to the market at 6pm Monday (Mar 10) after receiving a report of a man threatening a taxi driver with a pen gun.
Officers intercepted the white Mazda2 driven by the suspect, later identified as Kittikorn ‘Toey’ Chanmath, stopped at a red light near the market, Karon Police reported,
Officers ordered Kittikorn to exit the vehicle and searched him and the vehicle.
Officers found a pen gun loaded with a .22-calibre bullet in Kittikorn’s left shorts pocket, and found on him a plastic bag containing crystal meth (ya ice).
Kittikorn was taken to Karon Police Station, where a background check revealed a previous drug-related conviction in 2018 at Thung Song Police Station, Nakhon Sri Thammarat.
A test confirmed that the substance found was crystal meth, and a urine test detected traces of the drug in his system.
Kittikorn was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and with carrying a firearm in a public area without permission, and with illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics.
The brief report by Karon Police made no mention of the incident involving Kittikorn threatening a taxi driver with the pen gun.
