The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested at a residence on Soi Kalim 6, off Phra Barami Rd, in Patong.
Evidence seized included a black-and-red Honda Wave motorcycle used during the escape, a pair of red sneakers, and a black vest worn at the time of the attack, Patong Police reported.
The man faces charges of attempted murder, Patong Police confirmed.
The incident occurred around 3:20am near a hotel near Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd. According to police, the Danish tourist, accompanied by his Thai girlfriend, was accosted by the suspect after stepping away to urinate.
An argument ensued, escalating when the suspect followed the couple and stabbed the tourist once in the ribs with a folding knife before fleeing the scene.
The injured tourist was rushed to Patong Hospital by his girlfriend, who explained the incident to officers. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage and quickly identified and located the suspect.
Officers placed the man under arrest at 10pm Saturday night and took him to Patong Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings.
The condition of the Danish tourist was not reported by police.
