Wichit Police investigators arrested Weerapong, 30, at a house in Moo 6, Wichit, at about 4pm yesterday under a warrant issued by Phuket Provincial Court on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police seized a 9mm handgun, two live 9mm rounds in the magazine and two spent shell casings found at the scene.
According to Wichit Police, officers were called to the incident at about 2:30am following reports of a shooting at a residence in Wichit.
At the scene, officers found the injured victim, identified only as Sorawit, who sustained minor injuries to his arm.
Sorawit told police he had argued with his neighbour, Weerapong, over drinking alcohol. During the dispute, Weerapong allegedly went inside his house, retrieved a handgun and returned outside, where two gunshots were fired.
Police said investigators and patrol officers jointly examined the scene and gathered evidence before seeking an arrest warrant from Phuket Provincial Court.
Following his arrest, Weerapong allegedly confessed to all charges.
Forensic officers were called to collect evidence, including DNA samples from the suspect and the firearm, police said.
The suspect remains in custody for further legal proceedings.
