Police were called to the scene, the Shrimp Pond No. 54/10 in Moo 3, Pa Khlok, at about 11:30pm.
Police arrived to find Watcharaphon Wongsuwanon, 36, a resident of Pa Khlok, waiting at the scene and Thana Phanthip, 28, also present, lying injured with a gunshot wound above his right ankle.
Police reported that Watcharaphon claimed he opened fire after discovering Thana trespassing on the property, allegedly attempting to steal from the shrimp pond.
Watcharaphon further claimed that the victim was holding an object resembling a gun.
Officers coordinated with the Pa Khlok Municipality Rescue Unit to provide first aid before taking Thana to Thalang Hospital for further treatment.
During the investigation, police seized a 9mm Uzi pistol, a magazine, six bullets and a plastic toy gun resembling an M16 rifle.
The Uzi pistol was registered to a third party, identified as Nattapong Musik.
Watcharaphon admitted to firing the shot that injured Thana. He was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm in a public area without permission.
Watcharaphon, along with the seized firearm, was handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
Police said they were continuing their investigation surrounding the shooting, including the victim’s alleged attempt to commit theft at the scene.
