Officers from Thalang Police Station were notified of the incident at 5:42pm on Saturday (Mar 28) after a report from the station’s radio centre that an injured man had been taken to Thalang Hospital for treatment.

Police, including patrol officers and investigators, attended the hospital where they found the victim, Narong Na Phatthalung, 79, conscious and able to speak. He had sustained a stab wound beneath his right armpit and another to a finger on his left hand.

Mr Narong confirmed that the incident occurred in a rubber plantation in Moo 8, Thepkrasatri.

According to initial questioning, the victim told police the attack followed an argument during which he verbally confronted the assailant, accusing them of repeatedly stealing his belongings and those of others.

The confrontation escalated, prompting the suspect to stab him before fleeing the scene.

Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation transported Mr Narong to Thalang Hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.

Police launched an investigation to track down the attacker, and in an update confirmed that a suspect has since been arrested. However, authorities have not yet released further details regarding the suspect’s identity or the motive behind the attack.

The investigation remains ongoing.
