Officers from Phuket City Police Station were notified of the incident at about 5:58pm. The accident was reported on Thung Kha–Sapam–Khuan Din Daeng Rd.
Pol Lt Witthawat Krainara, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), responded to the scene after the station’s radio centre received a report of a motorbike crash involving a Thai man found lying on top of his bike in a grassy area by the roadside.
At the scene, officers found a white and blue Honda Dream motorbike without licence plates lying in the grass, with the body of the rider buried in the roadside undergrowth.
The deceased was identified as Julin Sae-Jia, 66, of Talat Nuea Subdistrict, Phuket Town.
Police informed their superiors and called in a forensic pathologist from Vachira Phuket Hospital to conduct a preliminary examination at the scene.
The initial examination concluded that the man died as a result of the accident and is believed to have been dead for at least 12 hours before his body was discovered. His family did not question the cause of death.
Police said they will continue to gather evidence and proceed with related legal procedures.
