Man, 61, dies after motorbike crashes into parked tuk-tuk

PHUKET: A 61-year-old man died after the motorbike he was riding crashed into a parked tuk-tuk on Phra Phuket Kaew Rd in Kathu yesterday afternoon (May 28).

Police were called to the scene, in front of the Khum Nam restaurant in Moo 1, Kathu, at about 4:40pm.

The victim, identified as Wisut Charoen, a resident of Wichit, was driving a red Honda Click motorcycle when he lost control and collided with the rear of a yellow tuk-tuk that was parked on the roadside, reported Kathu Police.

Emergency responders from Bangkok Hospital Siriroj and the Kathu Municipality Rescue Unit rushed to the scene and administered first aid before transporting Mr Wisut to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj  on the bypass road.

Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.

The tuk-tuk, registered in Phuket, was reportedly stationary at the time of the crash, opposite the entrance to Kajonkietsuksa School.

No other injuries or property damage were reported.

Mr Wisut’s motorbike was taken to Kathu Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation, Kathu police noted.
