Man, 26, dies in motorcycle accident

PHUKET: A 26-year-old man died after the motorbike he was riding struck the central reservation on Thepkrasattri Rd then a palm tree on Tuesday afternoon (Dec 24).

Thalang Police were called to the scene, in Moo 8, Tambon Thepkrasattri, at 3:05pm.

Police and rescue workers arrived to find a red-and-black Kawasaki motorbike on the road’s median strip, alongside the body of its driver, identified as Phanaprai Sukcharoen.

Initial inspections revealed that the motorcycle had skidded onto the median strip and crashed into a palm tree, police said.

Officers found no evidence of a collision with another vehicle. 

As of today (Dec 26), according to national road safety agency ThaiRSC 143 people have been killed in road accidents in Phuket so far this year, and a further 25,407 people have been injured in accidents on Phuket’s roads.
