“Work is currently being carried out to expand Bangthong Bridge (on Wichit Songkram Rd) and due to this work, it is necessary for the water authority to move the main water supply 400mm AC pipe near the bridge,” the PWA said in a statement issued on Friday (Jan 22).
Water supply in the area will be shut off “from 9:30am to evening,” said the PWA, but did not estimate when supply would return.
“The Phuket Waterworks Authority will try their best to get the job done as fast as they can,” the statement said.
Areas likely to be affected by the shutoff include the Baan Bangthong; near the Kathu Municipality offices; as well as the “Talad Sikor Community”, immediately to the east of the intersection Wichit Songkram Rd and Phra Baramee Rd (near the Caltex petrol station).
“Some areas may got experience water shortages or very light flow,” the PWA said.
