The 1st Phuket Marine Tourism Business Association football competition was held at the Phuket Soccer Arena in Talat Yai last night with the aim of providing a platform for all members to network and socialise.
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat inaugurated the event and was joined by Kritsada Pichetphongsanon, President of the Phuket Marine Tourism Business Association, Wirintra Papakityotphat, Vice President of the Tourism Industry Council of Thailand Andaman Cluster, and members of the local Marine Business Association.
“In recent times there has been a significant uptake in the number of businesses operating in our industry so this event presented the perfect opportunity to unite all relevant entrepreneurs and to extensive networking opportunities,” commented Mr Kritsada.
“Many tour operators and local business representatives got involved in the event which has allowed many new relationships to be established and which will flourish as time goes by,” he added.
Mrs Wirinthra explained that the event highlighted the willingness for cooperation between members of the local marine industry which emphasised a notion of unity and can help drive the Phuket economy.
A number of teams were entered into the football competition, although no specifics were reported on numbers or eventual winners of the event.
However, organisers expressed delight at the success of the occasion and stated they hope it will be just the start of many more to come.
