At 2:20pm Thalang Police were notified by hospital of the death of 65-year-old Martte Micule, a Latvian national.
"A family member who saw [the incident] from the shore at Mai Khao Beach, in the Moo 4 [locale], [said] Martte was kicking around sand in the water when a large wave knocked her down and pulled her in, knocking her around back and forth before the beach guards could retrieve her," said Pol Lt Suporn Muangkhai.
The woman's family is in the process of making arrangements for her body, he added.
