Christina Aguilera gave birth to her second child. I was only vaguely aware she was even pregnant as I did not see much press on it. She had a baby girl who she named Summer Rain. The “interesting” celebrity child naming continues.
Fifty Shades of Grey
The outrageously popular erotic novel made into a movie was released last weekend and as to be expected millions of people turned out to see main characters Christian Grey and Anna Steele in action. I did in fact go see it on Valentine’s Day and I agree with critics reviews in that if you have read the books and are a general fan it is worth seeing but nothing great. The books themselves were not particularly well written and the movie is cut from the same cloth. The movie is not a comedy obviously but I found myself giggling from time to time at the cheesy and seemingly forced sexiness at times. I was not alone either as I heard many bouts of laughter from other movie goers. That said I did enjoy the film overall and will most likely go to the second one. Spoiler alert- the movie ends somewhat abruptly and leaves you hanging.
Awards to be won
The 57th annual Grammy awards were held on February 8th in Los Angeles, California. Some highlights from the event were Kanye West making a fool of himself yet again by commenting that Beyonce Knowles should have won the Grammy for Album of the year while the actual winner, Beck was giving his acceptance speech. Breakout star to me is singer Sam Smith who at only 22 years old was nominated for six Grammys and won four including Best new artist, Song of the year and album of the year.
Sad news
Bobbi Christina, daughter of famous diva Whitney Houston is said to have failing organs while on life support in the hospital. She was found unresponsive at her home about three weeks ago in what seems to have been a possible drug overdose.
