The suspects, both aged 26, were apprehended by officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) in coordination with Phuket Immigration Police following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice linking them to the killing of a man in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the CIB, the men are accused of kidnapping, unlawfully detaining and fatally assaulting the victim, identified as Mr Jiang, before dumping his body in a mountain ravine.

The case came to light after the victim’s wife reported him missing in Bishkek on Apr 11. His body was later discovered in a valley, bearing signs of severe physical abuse that investigators say led to his death.

Authorities in Kyrgyzstan subsequently identified the two suspects and sought international assistance through Interpol. The pair are believed to have fled the country shortly after the crime and entered Thailand, where they went into hiding.

CSD Division 5 officers tracked their movements and located them at a hotel in Patong, Kathu District, leading to their arrest in a joint operation with Phuket Immigration officers.

Both suspects initially denied all charges during questioning.

The CIB confirmed that their permission to remain in Thailand has been revoked. They are now being processed for deportation and will be returned to Kyrgyzstan to face prosecution under local law.

The operation was carried out under the direction of CIB Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Natthasak Chaowanasai and senior CSD officers, with Division 5 leading the investigation and arrest.
