At around 6.30am yesterday (Apr 5), officers at the Kamala Police Station were notified of a single-vehicle accident on the Patong-Kamala road, specifically occurring at the Kuan Yak curve, a location notorious for the deaths of many Thai and foreign motorists.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered a white Honda Click motorcycle on the side of the road. The vehicle, showing no significant damage from the accident, was taken to the Kamala Police Station.
The rider, having sustained serious injuries, was rushed to Patong Hospital by rescue workers. Around 7.00am, they contacted the Kamala Police Station to report the man’s death. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Anochao Jumphan from Udon Thani.
Mr Anochao’s death has been officially recorded by the Thai Road Safety Foundation (ThaiRSC) as having occurred between 6am and 7am, the last hour of Phuket’s period, which is associated with an increased danger on the roads.
According to the ThaiRSC database, 31 out of this year’s 53 deaths occurred between 10.01pm and 6.59am, accounting for 58.5% fatalities.
