The raid took place at 2:40pm on Friday (Oct 17) in front of a school in Moo 3, Cherng Talay.
Officers from Thalang District, led by Thalang District Chief Phanuwat Songmuang and Cherng Talay Tambon Chief (Kamnan) Jirayut Jirasunthonkul, seized 115 bottles of kratom tea, 45 bottles of cough syrup and B1,700 in cash.
The suspect, identified by officials only as ‘Ms B’, was taken into custody and charged with: selling prohibited food (kratom leaf water) in violation of Ministry of Public Health regulations, and for selling kratom leaf water within 1,000 metres of a school; and possession of dangerous prescription drugs for sale without permission.
The case has been handed over to Cherng Talay Police for further legal proceedings.
According to the official report of the raid, the operation was conducted under the direction of Phuket Governor Saransak Srikruanetra, with Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam and Provincial Palad (Chief Administrative Officer) Thiraphong Chuaychu overseeing enforcement across the province.
The report said the raid formed part of the government’s nationwide effort to suppress all forms of vice, including drugs, gambling and human trafficking, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s 120-day initiative to maintain public safety and social order.
