At 9:30am today (July 21) Krabi police held a press conference to announce the arrest of one man and two women.
The three Trang natives, Ajara Paotong, 36, and husband and wife Surasak Tangkam. 32, and Kularat Watchareesaewin, 35, were arrested in Krabi with 180,000 methamphetamine pills (ya bah) and 7.1 kilos of crystal meth (ya ice). Police have sated the drugs were worth a total of B40M.
Police also from the three one .38 pistol, one .22 pistol,10 rounds of .38 bullets, one box of .22 bullets, 170 rounds of 5.56 bullets, two magazines for an M16, two magazine for a Heckler & Koch along with a pick-up truck and three cars.
The arrest of the trio came last Friday when police stopped Chowalit Limpanit, 39, at a checkpoint in front of Krabi School for not wearing a motorbike helmet.
Police said that Chowalit was acting suspiciously so they searched him and his motorbike and discovered 80 ya bah pills, an unknown amout of ya ice and a pistol.
After his arrest, Chowalit told police the names of his dealers, Sakariya Leemud and Saowapark Harnkla.
Police paid a visit to the two and seized 930 ya bah pills and received information on another two dealers, Surasak and his wife Kularat.
Surasak and Kularat were arrested at Robinsonʼs Shopping Center in Trang. And later at their rented home in Krabi police found the 180,000 ya bah pills 7.1 kilos of ya ice.
The couple told police they bought the drugs from a Ms Ajara who dealt drugs for a prisoner in Khaobin Prison.
Ajara denied all allegations of her involvement in dealing drug with prisoners.
Police are now investigating the drug network at Khaobin Prison in Ratchaburi where Ajara's husband is currently serving time.
Surasak, Kularat and Ajara have been charged with possdession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
