Pol Lt Col Yuthaphon Phromdao, an investigation officer at Wichit Police, received a report at 6:30pm regarding the death of a foreign tourist in a sauna at the spa, located off Wirat Hongyok Rd.

He informed Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang of the report and proceeded to the scene alongside an investigation team, forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital, and rescue workers from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation.

On arrival, police discovered the body of Gyeongdo Park, a 64-year-old Korean tourist, lying on the floor in front of the sauna room. His body showed visible red rashes on his back and the nape of his neck.

Arunnee Konkhamdee, the victim’s wife, told investigators that she, Mr Park, and his two older sisters had visited the spa together. While she and the sisters opted for a Thai massage, Mr. Park chose to use the sauna.

At approximately 5:22pm, another customer entered the sauna and discovered Mr Park unconscious inside. Staff members attempted CPR and promptly contacted the police and rescue workers.

Mr Park’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death while the investigation remains ongoing.
