Kids Club opens in Patong

PHUKET: There’s only so long you can stay in the air-conditioned cafes of Patong, with armfuls of shopping bags and equal numbers of kids, before you will be asked to leave. But where to go?

Well, starting from last week, parents now have The Kids Club by St James Properties as an option to take their children.

Situated on the entire second floor of the Patong Promenade, the playground contains old favourites like slides and ball pools, alongside some new, modern games like ball-firing guns (perfectly safe) and a variety of tricks and contraptions scattered throughout to keep the kids entertained all day long.

Speaking to The Phuket News, owner of the playground Esa Huovila said, “My wife and I got this idea from travelling around Bangkok and Singapore and many other places.

“As parents ourselves, we noticed that these kids playgrounds were quite common in department stores and places like that. There was nothing really like this in Phuket, so we decided to open one.”

Admission for The Kids Club by St James Properties is B50 for adults, B100 for babies under one year old, and B200 for children over one year old.

“Admission is valid for the whole day,” explains Mr Huovila, “a stamp will be issued for the whole day, meaning people can just come and go.”

There are also lockers where visitors can drop off their bags, as well as nappy changing facilities.

“We’re also going to have a cafe here as well, and wi-fi facilities throughout, so that parents can have a coffee or cupcake while waiting for their kids to finish playing.”

The Kids Club by St James Properties is open seven days a week, from 10am to 7pm. For more information, visit http://www.thekidsclubphuket.com/
