Following the investigation into the arrest of e-cigarette distributors in the area, it was found that e-cigarettes and cough syrups were ordered from an online store on a website, Region 8 Police reported.
Officers investigated and found that the products were sent from a parcel delivery shop in Kathu. They went to inspect the shop and found about 400 parcels, prepared for delivery nationwide. Inside, there were over 10,000 bottles of cough syrup.
Region 8 Police Deputy Commander Pol Maj Gen Ponchai Khacharaklin said that the operation was carried out with the cooperation of Phuket Provincial Health officials and postal authorities.
The crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to combat the illegal sale of drugs and controlled substances in Phuket, he said.
Those involved face legal action for selling prescription drugs without authorisation, advertising drugs without permission and distributing mislabeled food products, he added.
These offenses carry penalties, including imprisonment and fines under the law, he said.
