Kathu Police Superintendent Pol Col Chalermchai Hoesawat has ordered his investigation team to provide a full summary of events and proceed with necessary legal steps in line with juvenile case procedures, Kathu Police confirmed.
The first incident occurred at about 10pm on Dec 13 in the Khuan Lim San area, near Baan Ketho, on Wichit Songkram Rd in Kathu, where two groups of teenagers were involved in a brawl. Firecrackers were reportedly thrown and knives were used during the altercation. The violence led to a motorcycle crash involving one of the teenagers, resulting in injuries.
Police reported that no complaint was filed immediately after the incident. However, at about 4am on Dec 14, the parents of the injured teenagers went to Kathu Police Station to file a report. Those involved were subsequently summoned for questioning and processing according to juvenile investigation procedures.
A second related incident was reported at about 10:20pm on Friday (Dec 19), when Kathu Police received a radio alert of another attempted confrontation at a petrol station on Phra Phuket Kaew Rd. When officers arrived, both groups had already dispersed.
An initial inquiry found that the teenagers involved in the earlier brawl had coincidentally encountered their rivals at the petrol station and attempted to attack them again. Witnesses told police that someone displayed what appeared to be a gun or a similar object to intimidate others.
Investigators are now proceeding with legal action against those involved. Kathu Police said further developments in the case will be reported as the investigation continues.
