Located right next to Chalong Pier, the restaurant has been serving up delicious seafood and local delicacies to diners for the past five decades and has established such a reputation that it is regarded as one of the ‘must do’ activities for visitors to the island.
To celebrate it’s 50th year anniversary, the restaurant is organising a charity fun run this coming Sunday (Dec 3) where funds raised from participants will be donated to Chalong Hospital.
There are four separate race categories on the day: a 3-kilometre family and friends run; a 3km mini walk; a 5km fun run; and a 10km mini marathon. The race is limited to 1,200 competitors across the four categories.
All races will start at 4:30am from Kan Eang’s restaurant before weaving through the local area, providing an opportunity for participants to take in the picturesque views and natural beauty. The races will all also end back at the restaurant for post-race festivities and celebrations.
There will be a total of 200 prizes on offer worth close to B1.3 million for the top 50 finishers across the four race categories on the day, including private sail boat trips and a range of activities at local tourist spots such as Banana Beach and Hanuman World.
Registration fees range from B550 per person for the 3km mini walk, B650 per person for the 5km fun run, B950 for the 10km mini marathon and B1,250 for three people, B1,550 for four and B1,750 for five in the family and friends run. Registration is open until Saturday (Dec 2).
All registrants receive an official race shirt plus the bonus of a gift pack woth B1,099 upon confirming their participation, which includes gift vouchers for use at the restaurant and a skywalk at popular local tourist destination Hanuman World.
“The event is a celebration of the restaurant reaching its 50-year milestone and all the happy customers it has served during that period,” organisers told The Phuket News.
“However, it is not just about the run as the event is also being arranged for a good cause, with all proceeds raised being donated to the local hospital in Chalong. It promises to be a fantastic and memorable occasion.”
