The two men, named only as ‘Mr Surasing’ (‘Noom’), 39, and ‘Mr Rungroj’ (Roj), 36, were arrested after an investigation into a series of motorbike thefts, police reported.
The location and time of their arrest was not reported.
Officers had reviewed CCTV footage confirming the men involved in the thefts, police said.
The men took the stolen motorbikes into the hills in Thalang District, where they dismantled the vehicles and sold the parts to repair shops in Phuket and other provinces, Kamala Police explained.
According to police, during questioning the two men confessed to several thefts, including a Honda Wave 110i stolen from Soi Fantasy in Kamala on July 27, a Honda Zoomer stolen on Aug 3 and a a Honda Wave 110i with a sidecar from Moo 4, Thepkrasattri, yesterday (Aug 13),
The men also confessed to stealing two drills from a location in Baan Phru Champa, Thepkrasattri, on Aug 6, police said.
In making the arrests police seized the stolen motorcycles and the clothing worn during the crimes.
The men also allegedly exchanged the motorbike parts for drugs, police said.
The two men tested positive for methamphetamine, leading to additional charges for illegal drug use, police noted.
Police are continuing their investigation, with officers looking for connections to illegal drug use and those who bought the stolen motorbike parts.
