Jui Tui Shrine cleaned ahead of Veg Fest 2018

PHUKET: Local residents from Phuket Old Town gathered at Jui Tui Shrine yesterday (Oct 4) to clean the shrine in preparation the upcoming Vegetarian Festival 2018.

The Phuket vegetarian Festival 2018 will be held from October 9-17.

Around the shrine, areas such as the floor, shrine entrance and statues were cleaned while metal artefacts including vases, incense burners and candlestick holders were polished.

In the kitchen, which will be used to prepare vegetarian food for the entire nine days of the festival, all kitchenware such as frying pans, plates and bowls, condiment sets and cooking utensil were thoroughly cleaned to ensure they were not contaminated as per vegetarian festival rules.

In my hometown,when Christmas time is arriving,most homes,public places and even churches are cleaned and nicely decorated.No one,even those from other religions ever asked if the cleaning would be done only once a year.Here everything got questioned.And i would never expect the food served on a festival being of the same high quality as in a nice restaurant.Not here and not in my country.

@ mr Pascale,  with respect for your comment about 'free passes' for some of us commenting, about myself I can tell you that PN sometimes not publish my comments.  And I respect that. It is up to PN what to publish and what not. That is the way it works. Of course PN has a publishing policy frame work. As ( sometimes different) commenting readers we have to respect that.

Seems like PN is a bit selective now,when it comes to publishing comments.Except for one who obviously owns a free pass. One might get the feeling that the PN follows their own interest in publishing those fully loaded negative and sometimes derogatory comments.

Mr. Wiesel, I'm sure we would all be happy to comment about something positive. Unfortunately there are only stories regarding environmental destruction,  corruption on epic scale, etc. etc. etc. Nothing positive happening.

@ mr Wiesel: Kurt was asking questions. Do you remember the dis-quality and hygiene complains of the street food during previous Vegetarian Festivals? Some food sold as vegetarian was not even vegetarian.

Is 'cleaning' over there a news item? Does it mean the rest of the year there are at that location no proper cleanings?  Just a question: Are there no Goverment normal daily cleaning kitchen rules as described  in article., regardless a festival, and checked, of course.?
