TravelWeekly.com reported that two initial weekly A330 flights will rise to three in April.
"It's no secret that travellers much prefer flying directly to their destination and that's one of the key reasons we decided to add this new service," Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall was quoted as saying.
"Phuket has historically appealed to a broad group of travellers," the website quoted Mr Hall as saying.
Melbourne Airport chief executive Chris Woodruff welcomed the increased choice for Victorian travellers.
"Phuket's popularity as a holiday destination for Australians is well known and this new direct service will be a great addition for the busy summer holiday period," Woodruff was quoted as saying.
