The doll’s leg went missing at a birthday party for Wang at a beach club in Cherng Talay on Mar 27, when the gem-encrusted Buzz Lightyear pendant was worn on a necklace, Cherng Talay Police reported.
Hong Kong-born Wang, who was a teenage heartthrob of the Asian boy band ‘Got7’ nine years ago, turned 30 years old on Mar 28.
Designed by high-end men’s jewelry brand Trice, the Buzz Lightyear pendant is decorated with real diamonds, amethysts and other gems estimated to be worth B2.3 million, police noted.
It was later learned that someone had brought the leg to several shops to ask what it was worth, which prompted Wang’s fans to call for police action in posts online.
Wang’s fans demanded that the person return the leg, and warned any people who bought it of being charged with receiving stolen property.
In response, Cherng Talay Police Chief Pol Col Weerapong Rakkhito began investigating the lost leg, leading to the leg being handed in to Cherng Talay Police yesterday (Apr 22).
