Police were called to the scene, in front of the Sangsawan Resort on Phetkasem Rd, at about 9pm. Officers were told the accident occurred just minutes earlier
Officers from Khao Lak Police arrived to find a black Ford Everest registered in Phang Nga parked in the right lane near the median strip.
The driver, Wisanu Alitomeena, from Trang Province, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police noted.
Authorities discovered bloodstains and a black flip-flop near the accident site.
The victim, identified as Neil Christopher More Oferrall, an Irish citizen, was initially rushed to Khao Lak Medical Center, where medical personnel attempted to resuscitate him. However, he was pronounced dead at about 9:40pm due to a fractured neck and other injuries sustained in the impact.
The case has been registered as a traffic accident under case number Chor. 14/2568, with an autopsy case registered as Chor. 6/2568. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
Police have not yet disclosed whether charges will be filed against the driver, Mr Wisanu. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
However, Khao Lak Police has referred the case to Phang Nga Provincial Police as a “serious and shocking incident”.
